Update

Hi everyone!

Here's an update on the Rice Drive.

Our pilot run in RGS was a rousing success, thanks to the students and teachers who really went above and beyond! Thanks so much guys. Seriously, it's so much more than we could have asked for. In particular, Flora and I would like to thank the amazing and dedicated ONE Chapter for all their effort. We truly could not done it without them. Once again, thank you RGS!

Total amount of rice collected: 320kg!!!

Hi RGS,

Please look out for our posters around your school. They should be up by Friday if all goes well. We look forward to your contributions to the Rice Drive!

An Introduction to the Rice Drive

The Humanitarian Organization for Migration Economics (H.O.M.E.) is a registered society and charity that looks into the welfare and rights of migrant workers in Singapore. Its many tasks include providing food and shelter to destitute female and male migrant workers, conducting workshops for migrant workers on labour laws and legal rights and providing assistance to workers who have experienced abuse and injustice. Many of the residents are abused domestic workers. The shelter is currently running on a scarce supply of public donations. Should they run out, these workers will have no place to go to. We appeal to you to bring a cup of rice each, pool the grains together and give them to the workers. We’ve all heard about abused domestic workers, and though it is difficult for youths like us to prevent such abuse from happening, we hope to give every single one of you a chance to help these workers in areas where their employers have failed them. The Rice Drive's pilot project will be held at Raffles Girls' School (Secondary) from the 28th of January to the 1st of February.

Do spread the word about this event and remind your classmates to bring a cup of rice each. We promise you that it will make a difference in someone else’s life.

peace&love,
Flora and Jill
